Blairgowrie and District Hillwalking Club had an excellent, if rather hot day, walking near Crianlarich recently. Hillwalking and heatwaves are not a brilliant combination but six walkers gamely climbed Ben More by the NW ridge and then half of this party carried on to Stob Binnein. Two fine Munros with sparkling visibility and views of other nearby hills around Tyndrum and beyond.

Perhaps the sweltering heat swelled the numbers who opted for a lower level walk as the C party boasted 13 walkers. This group started at Tyndrum and walked south east on the West Highland Way. A cheery group, many sporting shorts and a colourful display of sunhats enjoyed a relaxed pace to read the many notices describing the historical and botanical interest on the route. At their lunch stop some cooled hot feet in a burn. Few wild life spots – a lizard and a red squirrel and splashes of ling and bell heather. All parties met up in Crianlarich where the Rod and Reel provided very welcome liquid refreshments.
