Glen Shee Meall Uaine
Glen Shee sparkled in winter sunshine and fresh snow as a small group from Blairgowrie and District Hillwalking club made their way steadily from the Spittal of Glen Shee up the Cateran Trail towards one of the highest points on the trail between Ben Earb and Meall Uaine. After reaching the bealach at the head of Coire Lairige, they left the trail and headed southeast on a broad ridge pausing fora short time to enjoy the stunning views of Glen Shee before carrying on to reach the summit of Meall Uaine.
Given the wintry conditions, the group were well equipped with ice axes and crampons, and this was an opportunity to practice winter skills and navigation. They spotted small flocks of lapwings and occasional grouse and stopped to check out animal tracks. From the ridge they also had good views of Strathardle.
